Since the release the "Secret Garden: An Inky Treasure Hunt and Coloring Book" release, in 2013, it has sold about two million copies worldwide; for a time earlier this year, "Secret Garden" and a follow-up, "Enchanted Forest: An Inky Quest and Coloring Book," were the two best-selling books on Amazon.
《秘密花園：一本探索奇境的手繪涂色書》自2013年出版以來，在全球范圍內共賣出了200萬本；今年不久前，《秘密花園》和其姐妹篇《魔法森林》是亞馬遜上最暢銷的兩本書。
據悉，涂色書（coloring books）的火爆在某種程度上源于社交媒體（be fuelled to some degree by social media）。一些涂色愛好者把自己的杰作發(fā)上Facebook和Pinterest等，吸引了不少粉絲。這些涂色愛好者還在社交媒體上表示，涂色可以治療焦慮（be therapeutic ends as anxiety），還能減壓放松（stress-reduction）。不過，當下成人通過一些童年時期的物件和經驗（childhood objects and experiences）來懷舊也是一大風潮。
成人涂色書（coloring books for adults）已有幾十年的歷史了。不過最近幾年的火爆令其真正形成了一個行業(yè)類型。2012年有一本名為《你與快樂只差上色: 100幅美景填色減壓》（Art-thérapie: 100 coloriages anti-stress）的填色書賣出了350多萬本，同年出版的Creative Haven系列在今年5月也賣出40萬本。
